Day temp may rise further in UP
LUCKNOW : Enervating heat with maximum temperature rising above 40 degrees Celsius at several places is making it quite tough for people to cope with even as the meteorological department on Saturday issued a warning that heat wave condition is likely to prevail in isolated places in the state for the next two days.
It also said that the weather was expected to remain dry.
“There will be no respite from heat wave conditions as weather is dry and sunny. The day temperature may further go up in days to come. Things may improve a little only with the change of wind pattern,” said state met director JP Gupta.
With 46.1 degrees each, Agra and Jhansi remained the hottest districts in UP on Saturday. Banda recorded 44.8 degrees Celsius, Aligarh 44.2 degrees, Orai 44 degrees, Prayagraj 43.4 degrees, Hamirpur 43.2 and Churk 43 degrees Celsius.
The day temperature was up to 4 degrees Celsius above normal in many cities.
On Saturday, maximum and minimum temperatures in Lucknow were 39.5 and 27.2 degrees
Celsius respectively.
The met department has forecast clear sky for the state capital on Sunday with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to remain around 40 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, commuters were at a receiving end due to the rise in temperature in Lucknow.
“Days have become unbearable as day temperature is soaring. I had to cover my face with a piece of cloth to protect myself from sunburn,” said Deepak Agarwal, a resident of Maqboolganj who travels by a two wheeler.
Vineet Gupta, a resident of Khurshed Bagh, said, “I have been carrying water bottles everyday and sipping it at regular intervals to protect myself from heat stroke.”
