Fastest spike: UP reports 1000 cases in three days

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh on Saturday reported fastest growth of 1000 cases (from 5000 to 6000 cases) in three days.

According to available data, the number of coranaviru­s patients jumped to 6017, including 1423 migrant workers in 83 days since the first case was reported on March 02, bringing the pace of cases to @72 per day in the state.

“Till now 3406 patients have been discharged, including 82 who were discharged on Saturday. So far, 152 patients have died, including three fresh deaths during the day. The number of active cases now in Uttar Pradesh is 2456,” said Dr Vikasendu Agrawal, state surveillan­ce officer in the health department. The first 1000 cases (1184 exactly) came up on April 20, which was 49 days since the first case reported. The second thousand (2053 exactly) came up on April 28, which was 8-days after the first thousand. The third 1000 cases (3214 exactly) came up on May 8, which was 10 days later and fourth thousand came on May 15 (4057 exactly). The five thousand came up in seven days and sixth thousand in three days.

“According to the data, 52.2% of the total patients in the state are between the age group of 21 and 40 years of age while 23.3% are between 41 and 60 years. This means people between 21 and 60 years need to be extra cautious,” Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Doctors.

During the day, Jaunpur and Rampur reported maximum cases. Jaunpur reported 32 cases taking the district tally to 123 while Rampur reported 25 cases, taking the district tally to 136.
