1,820 migrants in state’s Covid-19 tally of 6,991
269 fresh cases, five more deaths; 167 patients discharged
LUCKNOW:Uttar Pradesh reported 269 fresh coronavirus cases taking the tally to 6,991 on Wednesday, including 1,820 migrant workers, according to official data.
“In all, 167 patients were discharged during the day and 269 fresh cases were reported. So far, there have been 182 deaths, including five reported during the day,” said Dr Vikasendu Agrawal, state surveillance officer.
“With cases nearing the 7,000mark, we need to be extra cautious and report any person with symptoms to ensure that no positive case is missed in the state. This will help keep the number of fresh cases low,” Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors.
Hapur reported the maximum 29 cases, taking the district’s tally to 138. According to health department data, all 75 districts of UP have reported cases till now, including Agra (873), Lucknow (343), Ghaziabad (252), Noida (365), Kanpur (337), Prayagraj (84), Moradabad (200) and Varanasi (170).
As many as 9,60,933 inter-state migrants have been put under surveillance in the state and 59,272 samples collected from migrant workers, according to the health department data.
Principal secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said Asha (accredited social health activists) workers screened about 9.60 lakh migrant workers in various districts and detected coronavirus symptoms in 945 people. Their samples were sent for tests. The migrants should remain in home quarantine and follow the health department’s Covid guidelines, he said.
He also said, 2,895 people were kept in isolation wards of hospitals while 9,558 were put in quarantine. On Tuesday, 7407 samples were tested in the laboratories across UP. Health department teams carried out surveillance work in 12, 396 areas and screened 3.69 lakh people, he said.
On the basis of alerts by the Aarogya Setu app, the health department control room contacted 36,786 people, of which 97 were found infected while 47 were discharged from hospital after recovery.
