LUCKNOW : The Lucknow University (LU) administration has begun awarding teachers and students for their efforts, with an aim to promote excellence among the university family.

“The university is starting a few new and innovative schemes for both its teachers and students under the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the dean of students’ welfare,” said LU vice-chancellor Alok Kumar Rai.

“IQAC is starting three schemes named Protsaahan, Uddeepan and Acclaim for the university teachers,” he added.

Under Protsahan, LU will provide ‘seed money’ (initial investment) for an excellent research or idea proposed by any teacher. Uddeepan will also be in a cash form given to teachers with the best research paper.

Under Acclaim certain incentives will be provided to teachers. “An independent committee will scrutinise the work of teachers before giving these awards,” said the VC.Along with this a scheme for retired teachers of the University named ‘Professors of Eminence’ is also being started so that their expertise can be harnessed.

Under the dean of students’ welfare, a Student Welfare Fund (previously named Poor Student Aid Fund) has also been started. Also, a scheme called ‘Karmayogi’ has been launched.

Under the Karmayogi scheme, every selected student will be awarded a maximum amount of Rs. 15,000 per academic session.

“We are confident that these awards will motivate students and teaching staff to strive for excellence. This will not only improve them but also help foster an environment of research in the university,” said the VC.

UNDER ACCLAIM CERTAIN INCENTIVES WILL BE PROVIDED TO TEACHERS.
