For a middle-aged woman who has spent more than five decades of her life in this beautiful world, the word ‘lockdown’ was a totally new experience altogether. It seemed as if life had come to an abrupt halt. Apart from the daily office work, the there were numerous places that I was frequent to included gym, spa, eateries, parks and then meeting friends over evening parties every now and then. All was put on hold.

I was a bit sad but soon I realised that there was other side to life that has been left unexplored till now. I had all time in the world to be with my family. My two sons who are both based in USA and are working from home under lockdown. I video call them almost every morning that to for hours. Then I meditate and do yoga to keep my body flexible and rejuvenated throughout the day. Looking after my house and kitchen garden added to my fitness regime. I also tried to increase number of steps to 6000-9000 every day. This lockdown gave me an opportunity to be in the most comfortable clothing throughout the day. This was indeed a rarity during my usual days when it was more of formal dressing during daytime.

I have always loved cooking and so I utilised this time whole-heartedly for cooking good and healthy recipes for my husband (forgetting all those petty daily arguments we have every other day). If you have to live together, you have to bear the ‘nok jhok,’ too. Online cooking videos helped me to dish out some yummy delicacies almost every day. Needless to say, social media keeps me engaged, not to mention the number of movies that I watched on OTT platforms.

Most importantly, this phase brought me closer to five families of daily wage workers who live near my house. They are jobless and facing tough times. I’m trying my best to ensure that they get all the happiness.
