369 fresh corona cases, 7 more deaths in UP

LUCKNOW The state on Tuesday reported 369 fresh Covid cases, taking the tally to 8,729, including 2,404 migrant workers, according to official data.

With seven more deaths, the total number of fatalities reached 229 since the Covid-19 outbreak.

“So far, 5,176 patients have been discharged, including 146 today (Tuesday). The number of active cases in Uttar Pradesh is 3,324 now,” said Dr Vikasendu Agrawal, state surveillan­ce officer in the health department.

Large spike of coronaviru­s cases was witnessed in Gautam Buddha Nagar (42), Amethi (23), Basti (18), Ghaziabad (17), Kanpur (16), Muzaffarna­gar (14) Firozabad and Bijnore 13 each, Meerut, Bulandshah­ar, Kannauj and Azamgarh 12 each, Sant Kabir Nagar (11). Lucknow and Agra reported 6 cases each.

No fresh case was reported in districts known as migrant zones, including Jaunpur, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Rae Bareli, Lakhimpur Kheri, Maharajgan­j, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Ballia, Jaluan, Sitapur, Badaun, Bhadohi, Chitrakoot, Mirzapur, Banda, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Mahoba, Sonbhadra, Hamirpur and Lalitpur districts.

Additional chief secretary, home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi said the number of hotspots in the state increased to 1,231. These hotspots have 9.65 lakh houses and 51.67 lakh people. A total of 2,687 people were infected in the hotspots and 8,060 people have been lodged in institutio­nal quarantine.

He said chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officers to conduct special surveillan­ce in hotspot areas and ensure door supply of essential commoditie­s.

and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said active cases continues to be less in the state since May 11 and the recovery rate of patients is constantly increasing. At present the recovery rate is 59.51%. After treatment, 5,176 patients have recovered and sent home.

Prasad said, 51,451 phone calls were made by the control room of health department following an alert generated by Aarogya Setu App. During interactio­n 132 people informed that they were infected, 63 said they were discharged from hospital after recovery and 2,122 people are admitted in quarantine facilities.
