Salary paid to proxy KGBV teachers, probe underway

-

LUCKNOW:Basic education minister Satish Chand Dwivedi said on Friday that probe was underway to investigate how salary was paid to multiple teachers in different districts based on documents of a woman teacher of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) posted in Baghpat.

He said by using documents with the name of Anamika Shukla, posted as science teacher in Baghpat, a sum of over ₹5.5 lakh was paid to proxy teachers of various KGBVs in Aligarh, Amethi, Saharanpur and Ambedkar Nagar for nearly 12 months.

“Our findings suggest a sum of ₹2.31 lakh was paid to Anamika in Ambedkar Nagar, ₹1.16 lakh in Saharanpur, ₹93,530 in Aligarh and ₹68,200 in Amethi. This matter came to light after the Yogi government decided to upload details of teachers’ attendance and salary on the web portal to minimize foul practices which had been going on for several decades,” the minister said.

Dwivedi said database of teachers on Manav Sampada portal required personal records of teachers. Once the records were uploaded, it was found that an Anamika Shukla, with the same personal details, had been listed at several other schools. The minister said those who were involved in making payments to proxy teachers would be severely dealt with.

UP D-G, education, VK Anand also said the matter was being investigated. He said the name of a woman teacher had come to light and she was absconding now. He said, “To say that ₹1 crore was paid as salary is not true.” Anand said, “A probe is on and if allegations are true, an FIR will be lodged. The money (salary) in her bank account has also not been transferred.” According to complaints, salary of over Rs 1 crore was paid to proxy teachers in over 25 schools on the basis of documents of a woman teacher who is native of Mainpuri.
