Cop’s milk run earns blessings from child’s mother
BAHRAICH: Shafia Hashmi, a young mother, cannot stop praising and praying for CRPF constable Inder Yadav, who ran behind a train at Bhopal station to provide milk to her threemonth-old child.
Shafia demanded a promotion for him and said such persons should also be honoured in society.
She said that with his one act, Yadav has proved that humanity is still alive.
Shafia Hashmi, wife of Haseeb Hashmi, a resident of Sasallampur village under Huzoorpur police station area of Bahraich, said that she was living in Sankeshwar, Karnataka, when the lockdown began. She boarded a Shramik Special for Lucknow, along with her threemonth-old girl.
Shafia said that after one day passed and the train covered about 1,000 km, her baby was crying of hunger.
Shafia said she asked for milk at Bhusawal railway station but in vain.
On reaching Bhopal station, she requested for milk from Inder Yadav deployed at the station. Shafia said that sensing the hunger of her baby, Yadav immediately called someone on the phone to arrange for milk. As he moved away to get the milk, the train too started moving out of the station.
A visibly moved Shafia said that words will never be able to express her feelings as she saw Yadav running behind the train, packet of milk in one hand and a rifle in the other.
Finally, Yadav succeeded in handing over the milk to Shafia.
The entire incident was recorded on CCTV cameras of the Bhopal railway station. Shafia said her baby consumed the milk offered by Yadav till they reached Lucknow station the next day.
Later, reaching home, Shafia contacted Bhopal station and talked to Yadav and again thanked him for his help.
Taking note of the extraordinary service of the Central Reserve Police Force constable, even railway minister Piyush Geol tweeted about the incident on June 5.
