Use public address system to raise Covid awareness: CS
LUCKNOW: Chief secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari on Monday said a public address system should be used to create awareness among people on the need to wear masks and maintain physical distance as protection from Covid-19 infection, especially from asymptomatic patients.
Tiwari issued the directive while holding a meeting with the chairpersons of Covid-19 committees here. He said the meetings should be held with the owners of malls, restaurants and mandis to enlist their cooperation in raising public awareness about wearing masks and observing social distancing norms.
He asked officials to obtain the cooperation of local urban bodies in door-to-door identification of Covid-19 patients and also put up hoardings and posters for awareness. Taking note of increasing traffic jams on the Delhi-UP border, the chief secretary said people should be asked to display their travel passes on vehicles in such a way that they are visible from a distant so that the police did not stop such vehicles. He said an announcement system should also be put into place for this purpose. The chief minister said Noida had been made the centre for the PGI-Chandigarh entrance exam and asked officials to ensure that candidates’ admit cards were treated as travel passes for movement to and from Noida.
The chief secretary directed the medical education department to make TrueNat machines available to all medical colleges as early as possible to increase Covid-19 testing. High-priority samples must be examined on priority for early diagnosis, Tiwari said.
Tiwari said the level of awareness about Covid-19 in rural areas was encouraging with the moni
toring committees doing a good job there. He asked officials to obtain feedback from monitoring committees’ members, as well as those taking care of quarantine centres in villages. The feedback, he said, should be made available to district magistrates.
He asked for a list of Noida hospitals which were providing emergency services. The chief secretary told officials to ask the brick kiln owners in UP to share a list of workers who wanted to return to their respective home states and arrange shramik special trains for them. He said no-salary dues certificates must be obtained from the kiln owners before sending the workers to their states.
