When life gives you lemon, make lemonade!

The business was booming. With a marketing strategy planned for the business and an idea of expansion in the blueprint, we were in the process of hiring new recruits for the clinic. So, you get the picture, things were in great motion and lots of plans were in the pipeline, but as the saying goes, man proposes and God disposes.

The lockdown came into effect. The murmurs of Covid19 pandemic were circling around and making to the bottom columns of the national newspaper dailies but we humans have a peculiar tendency.

We relegate everything, till it hits us. And it did hit us. Since, I am in a business of public dealing, we were closed indefinitely. The fear of our safety and of our family was paramount.

The first few weeks just went by managing the house without any house help. With the sweat dripping and so much work to do, the gratefulness for those who help us daily came in copious flow. The responsibilities when shared become joy; this was the mantra for our family.

Prior to these times, we struggled to spend time together and here we were together for full 24 hours. And oh boy, it was fun! We played games, cooked together, read books and did projects. It had been a long desire of mine to introduce my kids to the ancient art of mindfulness and this lockdown time gave an ample opportunity to do the same.

This period gave me an ample opportunity to think about the ways to inject new ideas in my therapy practice. I took my practice online and it did a lot good than I expected.

So, the lockdown has strengthened my belief that when life gives us lemons, make lemonade and whatever doesn’t break us makes us stronger.
