Spl bureau to guide district police in cases
LUCKNOW The Uttar Pradesh police have set up a ‘modus operandi bureau’ that will analyse incidents of heinous crime, study crime and criminals’ pattern to frame preventive and predictive policies for the district police, said a senior police official.
The bureau, set up by UP Director General of Police (DGP) HC Awasthy on Tuesday, will be similar to the ones in Mumbai,
Tamil Nadu and Haryana and will work under the control of Superintendent of Police (SP), UP State Crime Record Bureau at UP police headquarters in Lucknow.
It will be under the supervision of ADG, Technical Services, reads a circular issued by the DGP. The circular further said the online workshops should be organised for district police officials to inform them about the working and coordination expected from them.
“The bureau is constituted with the aim to help cops at district level to understand the emerging and existing trend of crime and criminals in the particular district or region that could help them in cracking cases as well as prevent future crimes,” said additional director general (ADG) of police, law and order, Prashant Kumar.
He said the primary function of the bureau was to maintain records of inter-state and interdistrict criminals and their gangs. “The bureau will study the pattern of criminals and gangs involved in heinous crime like murders, contract killings, dacoity, kidnapping for ransom, loot by motorcyclists, robberies and loot at banks and other financial institutions and house burglaries etc. In addition, the bureau will analyse the pattern of cow slaughter rackets, gangs, idol thefts, human trafficking, drug trafficking, firearms supplying rackets, FICN rackets, gangs involved in fraudulent activities, he added.
