2 apartments among 4 new proposed containment zones
LUCKNOW: The health department has proposed four new containment zones, including two apartment buildings in Chaupatia and Mahanagar.
With this, the total number of containment zones in the state capital has gone up to 19.
The third containment zone has been proposed in Virajkhand, Gomti Nagar, where two people residing in a house tested positive. A letter was sent to the district administration for marking the containment zones, said Dr Narendra Agrawal, chief medical officer, Lucknow.
A fourth containment zone was also proposed at the building in which nine staff members of an outsourced agency tested positive during the day.
There are now five apartment buildings that have been made containment zones in the state capital.
“Marking containment zones will help contain cases immediately. In the past also, containment zones have helped check the multiplication of coronavirus cases. It is necessary to implement the norms strictly and people need to follow them,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors.
Lucknow had 22 containment zones in April, which reduced to nine in May last. But in the past one week, nine new containment zones were demarcated in the city.
The health department has asked the administration to ensure the supply of essential goods in these containment zones so that people do not face inconvenience.
Medical mobile units have been deployed in these areas to cater to the medical emergency needs of the residents.
