YOUR YOGA CELEBRATIONS TO TAKE DIGITAL ROUTE
From Haridwar to Hollywood International Yoga Day will be celebrated virtually, on digital platforms. Ayush special secretary Rajkamal Yadav said, “Following the theme of ‘Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family’ individuals will be able to join the celebrations virtually at 7 am on
June 21.”
The digital event would highlight the utility of yoga for individuals, to develop immunity to combat the global pandemic.
Full details about celebrations will be finalised by the chief minister, he said.
The guidelines for state are being finalised but there would be no mass gatherings this year in view of the coronavirus outbreak, said Yadav. According to insiders the state government, following the centre, is mulling to raise awareness about yoga through online contests.
The official said that participants will be required to upload their videos performing asanas, kriyas, etc.
Lucknow University yoga teacher Satyendra Mishra said, “We are waiting for the directives from the state government. This year, we want to show that despite the pandemic, yoga practitioners are ready to demonstrate the multiple facets of yoga. Everyone knows that yoga is not just a physical activity. It also has to do with social and spiritual health.”
Dr Vandana Mishra of Kanchankaya Yog Kendra in Krishna Nagar said, “We will definitely miss the live performance by hundreds of yoga enthusiasts but the idea of virtual yoga sessions is also very good.”
“When there can be virtual tours and meetings, then why can’t we celebrate International Yoga Day virtually,” Mishra said.
