16,159 samples tested, recovery rate 60.85%

LUCKNOW As many as 16,159 samples were tested in laboratori­es across the state, principal secretary, department of health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said on Wednesday.

This is the highest number of samples tested in a day in the state so far.

The recovery rate of coronaviru­s infected patients in UP was now 60.85%, he added.

Asha workers (Accredited Social Health Activists) screened 17.5 lakh workers and symptoms were detected in 1,485 migrants whose samples were then sent for tests, he said.

Besides, 1.26 lakh surveillan­ce teams of the health department surveyed 94.63 lakh houses and 4.82 crore people, he said.

On the basis of alerts generated by Arogya Setu App, the health department control room contacted 84,948 people who came in contact with Covid positive patients, he said.

Additional chief secretary, home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi said the number of hotspots in the state on Wednesday increased to 2,414.

Health department teams surveyed 9 lakh houses and 54.72 lakh people in hot spots where 5,261 people tested positive, he said.

DIST HOSPITAL OPDS IN NEXT PHASE

The health department has ordered reopening of general OPDs in primary health centers and community health centres but general OPDs in district hospitals will resume in the next phase, Prasad said.

Emergency OPDs are operationa­l in district hospitals at present.

Private hospitals and clinics were granted permission to run general OPDs with conditions and strict implementa­tion of Covid protocol, he said.
