Let UP STF probe ‘fraudulent admissions’ in AKTU: VC to CM
LUCKNOW: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University vice chancellor Prof Vinay Kumar Pathak has written a letter to chief minister Yogi Adityanath demanding a high-level probe by Special Task Force (STF) to ascertain how 306 students of Jharkhand State Open School, a Ranchi-based fake body, got admission in 95 colleges of AKTU.
“We have requested the CM to order probe by the UP STF to find out the role of college management and other university officials in the admissions.
The involvement of AKTU officials or college management just cannot be ruled out,” said Prof Pathak. On June 10, a two-judge Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has stayed (set aside) a single bench’s order and upheld Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University’s decision to cancel the admissions of 306 students of a fake body, Jharkhand State Open School, Ranchi. However, special appeal is allowed, the court said. AKTU vice chancellor said on the basis of bogus certificates admission cannot be given to any students. It sets a wrong precedent and hence the university was determined to cancel admission of 306 students of Jharkhand State Open School, Ranchi. These students acquired certificates from bogus institution and then took admission in 95 affiliated colleges of the university in 2016. The double bench ruled, “If the students are permitted to continue to pursue their courses, it would amount to putting a premium to the fraud practice by the Jharkhand State Open School and the students.
The court cannot come to the rescue of such students, who had secured admissions on the basis of illegal certificates of educational eligibility for admission. “When the students did not have the essential eligibility for admission in engineering courses they cannot be permitted to continue . The university was well within its power to cancel their admissions,” said justice Dinesh Kumar Singh and justice Pankaj Kumar Jaiswal in their order dated June 10. With the twojudge verdict, the stand of the university has been vindicated.
