Meet the six-year-old game developer from UP
Asix year old from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh is basking in the glory of being certified as Youngest Game Developer in the country by a panel of computer scientists from IIT, Google, Intel, Microsoft & others . Meet the wonder kid Anika Singh , a student of Chickar International School and resident of Mahanagar, Bareilly. Keenly mentored and encouraged by her father Abhishek Singh who happens to run an advisory firm and her mother Priyanka , a biotechnology postgraduate who opted to be a homemaker, Anika has imbibed a natural curiosity for technical knowledge .
Talking about his daughter’s achievement, Singh said, “Being the granddaughter of known scientist Dr N B Singh, Anika has an inherited flair for academics. She was always very tech savvy and was able to manoeuvre through smartphones and tablets like no other five year old can do . This coupled with her inquisitiveness to understand on how things worked made us feel that this needed more encouragement and professional guidance. So we enrolled her into an online , instructor led coding curriculum at the age of five and a half and as expected she immediately took a liking for it.” And then it took her over eight months of hard work and hours of coding practice to be able to create an app that could be vetted by a set of tech veterans who later graded it on the functionality, purpose, user interface before she could get certified. “It wasn’t easy for a little child to achieve what she has. It took over 60 hours of instructor led sessions, score of assignments along with her regular school curriculum. But her strong will power and determination made her achieve this success,” said her mother.
On her personal front Anika is overtly inquisitive, confident, free spirited kid full of fun and life. She is a keen dancer with a liking for dramatics and theatre as well and avid reader who also dabbles in drawing and painting. “I want to be a scientist like my grandfather,” said the wonder kid.
As India steps into an era which will see future generation of young explorers, scientists and tech savvy kids like Anika spearheading into the future of technology.
