2 Covid deaths, 23 fresh cases in state capital

LUCKNOW: The deaths of two confirmed coronaviru­s patients and a suspected Covid patient were reported here on Friday. Besides, 23 more people tested positive for the Sars-Cov-2 pathogen in the state capital and 17 patients were discharged from hospitals.

Some of the fresh cases were reported from the new areas of Railway Colony, Rahimabad, Meena Market, Awadh Vihar and Vikas Khand. “During the day, 17 patients were discharged from different hospitals in the city after they were declared as recovered. The samples of 466 people were taken from different areas,” said chief medical officer, Lucknow, Dr Narendra Agrawal.

A 64-year-old man from Gorakhpur, who had tested positive for coronaviru­s, died during treatment at King George’s Medical University on Friday. “The man was admitted at 2.50am. He had diabetes and his serious condition could be defined as hyperosmol­ar non-ketotic diabetic coma. He was kept in ICU, but died during treatment,” said Dr

Sudhir Singh, KGMU spokespers­on. The sample of a man from Rahimabad in Lucknow, who had died on Wednesday, tested positive for coronaviru­s during the day. Till now, 12 coronaviru­s positive people have died in Lucknow. Eight of these deaths were in June. The Rahimabad man worked at a laundry in New Delhi and had returned home with his family. After his sample tested positive, police sealed the area around his house was and sanitisati­on was done there.

In another case, an Indira Nagar resident, who was suffering from breathing problems and was admitted to a private hospital on the Faizabad Road, died during treatment. Among the fresh cases, one each was reported from Thakurganj, Railway Colony, Park Road, Rahimabad, Vivek Khand, Vikas Khand, Vidhayakpu­ram, PAC, Indira Nagar, Meena Market, Telibagh and Shahmeena Road, two each from Maulviganj, Alambagh, Virat Khand and Awadh Vihar and 3 from Kamta in Chinhat.
