LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday asked officials to strengthen the surveillance system further by setting up one lakh vigilance committees that would help break the Covid-19 infection chain.

He also sought a better work plan to check the spread of the cornavirus in districts of the national capital region (NCR). He was reviewing the Unlock-1 situation at a high-level meeting at his official residence here.

He said the medical and health department, the medical education department and the district administration should work for bolstering the surveillance system.

Random sampling should be increased to ascertain correct information about the spread of Covid-19, he added. The chief minister also said a Covid helpdesk

should be set up in all hospitals on priority. The helpdesk should be used to educate people about protection from Covid-19, he suggested. The helpdesk should be given sanitizer, infrared thermometers and pulse oximeter machines, Yogi said.

The process of publicising measures for protection from Covid-19 should continue, he added. People should be made aware of Covid-19 by using the public address system at crossings, markets and bus stations, the chief minister said. He also said banners carrying information about protection from Covid-19 should be put up close to registration counters in hospitals.

Yogi Adityanath said all necessary arrangements should be

made to protect police and PAC personnel from the coronavirus infection.

All efforts should be made to strengthen health services in the fight against Covid-19, he said.

He asked officials to consider giving medical treatment related duties to those doctors who were assigned administrative work. Such a step was necessary to ensure availability of doctors in sufficient numbers, he explained.

The food distribution work should be carried out in a transparent manner, the chief minister added. He also said strict action should be taken against those involved in illegal plotting in UP.
