CM THANKS PM FOR SCHEME

LUCKNOW Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he got the idea for the Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan from a group of labourers who used their skills to whitewash and paint a school in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district when they were quarantine­d there.

The PM was speaking at the launch of the scheme on Saturday. The scheme proposes to provide work to labourers in accordance with their interest and skills.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his gratitude to the PM for setting the scheme in motion and said it would increase opportunit­ies for earning a livelihood.

The PM was speaking at the launch of the scheme on Saturday. The scheme proposes to provide work to labourers in accordance with their interest and skills. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who participat­ed in the launch via video conference, expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for setting the scheme in motion and said it would increase opportunit­ies for earning a livelihood.

“These labourers had mastery in the works of whitewash and painting work. They were in quarantine in the school during the lockdown. They wanted to do something for their village. They thought to make use of their skills and they rejuvenate­d their school during the lockdown. I came to know about them and their work gave me inspiratio­n and this scheme was conceived from what they did,” said Modi.

For his part, the chief minister said the state government was committed to taking the benefits of ‘Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan’ to people by running the scheme in accordance with the PM’s aspiration­s and expectatio­ns.

The ‘Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan’ will run for 125 days in 116 districts in six states.

Thirty-one of UP’s 75 districts will benefit from the programme.

These districts include Siddharthn­agar, Prayagraj, Gonda, Maharajgan­j, Bahraich, Balrampur, Jaunpur, Hardoi, Azamgarh, Basti, Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Kushinagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Banda, Ambedkar Nagar, Sitapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Ayodhya, Deoria, Amethi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Unnao, Shravasti, Fatehpur, Mirzapur, Jalaun and Kaushambi.
