Comic spreading awareness on Covid a hit on twitter
LUCKNOW: A cartoon series — Kakaji-Buddhu Lal — is coming handy in creating awareness on Covid protocol among people, especially those residing in rural areas.
Launched by the state revenue department, the series being run on the social media platforms is proving to be a hit among people who are enjoying the rustic characters.
The Covid protocol announced by the state government after Unlock-1 has also been skill-fully communicated to the common people through the series.
Along with cartoon series, the revenue department has also launched several other innovative message series as well as visuals on the social media to create awareness among people for protection from Covid. Relief commissioner Sanjay Goyal said the social media cell located in the revenue department control room was running awareness campaign for protection from Covid on social media.
A group of professionals in the social media teams have prepared the cartoon series, which has been put on the microblogging site twitter.
The plan is to also share it on other social media sites, he said.
The imaginary character of Kakaji, an elderly person, who is aware of the coronavirus threat as well as the guidelines announced by the state government often pulls up Buddhu Lal, a young boy, for not following the guidelines like social distancing, covering the face with mask, and washing hands at regular intervals. In the end, Kakaji tells people that if Buddhu Lal can understand the message why can’t you all.
Launched in February, the followers on twitter handle of the revenue department have crossed 9000, Goyal said.
A medical practitioner Dr AK Singh said the cartoons and visuals are not only effective techniques to send a message but it also lowers the stress, enhances creativity and make people feel better during tense situation like the pandemic.
The department is also highlighting the effort of the coronavirus warriors like doctors, paramedical staff, policemen and employees of the other government departments. It has called upon the people to donate in the Covid care fund launched by the government. The department has also launched helpline to assist migrant workers who require medical or other assistance, he said.
