Containment zones touch 111-mark in state capital
LUCKNOW : The number of containment zones in the state capital crossed the 100-mark with 23 more areas joining the list on Monday, taking their current total number to 111. A population of at least 2.5 lakh is directly affected in these containment zones.
Lucknow also reported 17 fresh Covid-19 cases, including a man and his son working at King George’s Medical University administrative wings.
Three cases were reported from Rajajipuram, two each from Faizullahganj and New Hyderabad, one each from Badi Bazaar, Khargapur, Ismailganj, Vijaynagar, Chowk, Indiranagar, 112 headquarters, Hindnagar, Krishnanagar, Gulistan Colony, which was made a containment zone on Saturday after a lawmaker living there tested positive. The tally of Covid-19 infection cases in Lucknow now stands at 1,090.
The man and his son were working in different sections of KGMU administrative wings (research cell and HRF). As news of the duo testing positive reached the senior officials, the wings were closed and sanitization was done. The man’s wife, who is working in the finance department, has been asked to stay in home quarantine.
In all, 21 patients were discharged, including 14 from King George’s Medical University, five from PGI and two from Lok Bandhu Raj Narain Hospital.
“A letter has been sent to the DM for making 23 new containment zones in Lucknow,” said Dr Narendra Agrawal, chief medical officer, Lucknow.
“Very few fresh cases are reported from containment zones now as the health department makes containment zones swiftly. This will help reduce the number of new cases,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International
Doctors.
Containment will be relaxed in eight areas, said Yogesh Raghuvanshi, spokesperson for office of Lucknow CMO.
