UP MAY INCLUDE 4 MORE B’KHAND DISTRICTS IN DEFENCE CORRIDOR
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government may include Bundelkhand’s four more districts —Jalaun, Hamirpur, Banda and Mahoba in the ambitious defence corridor project announced in February, 2019. Giving indications in this regard during a meeting here on Monday, chief secretary, Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, asked the officials concerned to prepare a well-considered proposal obtaining approval from the competent authority to include four more Bundelkhand districts in the project. He said the defence corridor was among the Central and the state government’s top priority projects. He asked officials to ensure time-bound completion of the work to be done under the first phase in the districts of Aligarh, Agra, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Kanpur and Lucknow. He said Rs 20,000 crore of investment was expected in the project that aimed to manufacture defence equipment for Indian armed forces indigenously.
