‘Anti-CAA protest’: Congress leader held
LUCKNOW:: An office bearer of UP Congress Committee was arrested from his residence in Hazratganj on Monday evening allegedly due to his involvement in anti-CAA protest. According to police sources, Shahnawaz Alam, chief of Congress minority cell in UP, was arrested by police team from Hazratganj police station and brought for questioning. “Police have found Alam having links with the violent protest in the state capital last year. He has been held for further questioning,” said the source. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hazratganj, Abhay Mishra said,”Shahnawaz Alam was arrested on the basis of some findings in an ongoing investigation. It would be too early to comment further on this.”Polive have also arrested another person, said to be linked to Shahnawaz in the same matter. Anti-CAA protest in Lucknow last year had turned violent leading to damage to public property.
