672 new cases, 25 deaths in UP
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday recorded 672 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 23,700 since the first Covid-19 infection was reported in the state on March 2, according to official data.
Besides, 25 more patients died in the past 24 hours as the total count of fatalities in the state went up to 697. The state’s coronavirus tally reached 23,700 from 22,343 in just 48 hours. There were 6,711 active cases on Tuesday against 6,650 on Monday.
Among the fresh cases, the highest 151 were reported from Ghaziabad, 97 from Gautam Buddha Nagar, 30 from Lucknow, 24 from Aligarh, 20 from Prayagraj, 19 from Gorakhpur and Jhansi, 18 from Kanpur, 17 from Mathura, 15 from Ballia, 14 each from Bulandshahr and Saharanpur, 13 each from Jalaun and Chandauli, 12 from Hapur, 11 each from Meerut, Bareilly, Moradabad and Siddharth Nagar and 10 from Jaunpur.
No fresh case was reported in Lalitpur, Sonbhadra, Banda, Shravasti, Bhadohi, Sitapur, Maharajganj, Amroha, Bijnore and Barabanki districts on Tuesday. The 25 deaths were reported from Meerut, Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Firozabad, Varanasi, Aligarh, Hapur, Sambhal, Sultanpur, Bareilly, Shamli, Farrukhabad, Mau and Kushinagar
districts.
The state government on Tuesday claimed that the recovery rate of the coronavirus infected patients in the state had increased to 68. 46%. On Tuesday, 579 patients were discharged from the hospital after recovery. Total 16,084 infected patients have been discharged since the start of the pandemic in March.
Additional chief secretary, health, Amit Mohan Prasad said on Tuesday the state health and medical education department achieved the target of 1.51 lakh beds in the designated Covid level 1, 2 and 3 hospitals.
On Monday, 21,414 samples were tested in the government and laboratories. The total samples tested in the state since the start of the Covid pandemic in
March crossed 7 lakh mark- 7.27 lakh, he said. The ASHA workers have screened 19.41 migrant workers and the samples of 1741 migrants having Covid symptoms have been sent to the laboratory for test. The reports of 1,268 samples had been received, of which 235 were positive.
Additional chief secretary, home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi said the hotspots in the state had increased to 2,733. The health teams surveyed 8.76 lakh houses and 54.50 lakh people in the hotspots areas, he said.
On the direction of Chief Minister Covid help desks is being set up in the primary health centres, community health centres, polices station and government offices to screen and create awareness among the people, he said.
