TWO SUCCUMB TO COVID INFECTION; 118 CONTAINMEN­T ZONES IN LUCKNOW

The state capital reported 31 new cases of Covid-19, while two people succumbed to the infection on Tuesday. These included a 45-year-old head constable at the Anti Corruption Organisati­on (ACO) and a 48-year-old resident of Thakurganj, said officials. Among those who tested positive were a data entry operator at the chief secretary’s office and a clerk of LMC.

The fresh cases surfaced in Alambagh, Indira Nagar, Gomti Nagar, IIM road, Vijay Nagar, Saadatganj, Triveni Nagar, Chinhat, Aliganj, Mahanagar, Vikas Nagar, Chowk, Krishna Nagar, Tulsidas Marg, Jafar Khera, Vrindavan Scheme and Rajajipura­m, said Dr Narendra Agarwal, CMO.

So far, 1,051 Covid cases were reported from Lucknow, of which 701 had recovered while 19 patients died during treatment. As many as 331 patients were still undergoing treatment. “Fifteen more new containmen­t zones were made on Tuesday while seven areas were removed from the list. In all, there are now 118 containmen­t zones in the state capital,” he said.

Areas included on the list of containmen­t zones were –

Patanala, Chowk; Indira Nagar (near Shekhar Hospital), Sector B -5/132 Indira Nagar; Dwarkapuri; Telibagh behind Ram Bharose Maiku Lal Inter College; Aman Vihar Colony, Faizullahg­anj; Jugal Vihar Colony, Keshav Nagar, Faizullahg­anj, Ruchi Khand; Sharda Nagar, Kanpur road; Khargapur near Raghunath gate, Gomti Nagar; IIM Road Lucknow; Ram Basera Apartment, New Hyderabad; Gauri Apartment near Jagran Chauraha; Ismailganj, Ambedkarpu­ram, Vineet Khand; Rajya Sampati Colony, Mall Avenue; Babli Bazar, Saadatganj, Asang Vihar and Para road. Phoolbagh, Qaiserbagh, a duplex in Mall Avenue, A Block Indira Nagar, Geetaplall­i (Alambagh), Vikas Khand (Gomti Nagar), Sector 10 Indira Nagar and Vinamra Khand (Gomti Nagar) were removed from the list of containmen­t zones.
