Yogi launches ‘Har Ghar Nal’ project in Jhansi
The govt will provide drinking water to the region by 2022
LUCKNOW Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said India was feeling secured under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi “as the second phase of ‘Unlock-2’ begins on July 1.”
“The world has never seen such a pandemic. But under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership the country is feeling secured. After successful implementation of lockdowns, ‘Unlock-2’ will begin on Wednesday,” said Yogi while launching the ‘Har Ghar Nal’ project in Jhansi to supply piped drinking water in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.
In the first phase, 12 water supply projects have been launched for Jhansi, Mahoba and Lalitpur districts. “We will supply water to all the seven districts of Bundelkhand through 43 surface water sources and 436 ground water sources,” said Yogi in the presence of union minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, UP minister for Jal Shakti Mahendra Singh and UP BJP president Swatantradev Singh.
Yogi said the prime minister came to Bundelkhand in February 2020 and laid the foundation stone of the piped drinking water project and the state government was launching 12 projects, with an estimated cost of Rs 2,185 crore for three districts of Bundelkhand. “In two years, we will realise Prime Minister’s dream of Har Ghar Jal,” said Yogi. Yogi laid emphasis on rainwater harvesting and said the mining mafia used to dominate Bundelkhand region.
He said 40 per cent earth work on Bundelkhand Expressway has been completed and work on construction of Defence Corridor has been progressing on a war footing there.
He said “Bundelkhand region has been neglected over the years. If the political leadership had paid attention to the region it would not have faced such problems.’’
Shekhawat said prime minister was concerned about providing drinking water to Bundelkhand region.
He said the UP government has decided to provide drinking water to the region by 2022. He stressed upon the need of recycling water and said 75 per cent of the water from households went in drains and such water could be recycled for horticulture.
