LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday issued a GO (government order) asking district magistrates to ensure earliest rectification of the village mapping and farmers’ personal data so that eligible farmers are not deprived of the benefits of PM-Kisan, a Central government scheme under which each beneficiary gets three equal cash transfers of Rs 2,000 every year.

The GO issued by additional chief secretary, agriculture, Devesh Chaturvedi says that it has been found that mapping of many villages, blocks and tehsil was not done correctly due to which many villages under one tehsil were being shown in other tehsils. “It is not possible to verify farmers’ data because of wrong village-mapping and since data verification is mandatory many farmers are not able to avail the scheme,” the GO pointed out. The GO asks DMs to deploy the revenue department’s teams to rectify the village mapping data that overlapped. The GO has also laid down the procedure for carrying out the data correction .

According to Chaturvedi, the Central government had made Aadhar validation mandatory since December last year because of which no beneficiary whose personal data was not verified and corrected could avail the PM-Kisan. “There are still around 22 lakh farmers who are not able get cash transfers since the Aadhar validation was made mandatory in December, 2019 while 8 lakh new farmers have also registered for the scheme in the meantime,” he said. “We have to verify data of all these farmers,” he added. Chaturvedi said the data was regularly being rectified and 2.15 crore farmers were already getting the benefits under the PM-Kisan scheme. “The total beneficiaries after the data verification and correction will be around 2.41 crore,” he said.
