HIGHEST CASUALTY FOR UP POLICE IN 15 YEARS

The killing of a deputy SP, three sub-inspectors and four constables has been the highest casualty for the Uttar Pradesh police in the last two decades.

Before criminal Vikas Dubey, in a planned way, murdered these policemen in Kanpur Dehat, the worst attacked on cops was mounted by dacoit Ambika Prasad alias Thokia, who had killed six police commandos and a police informer in Chitrakoot to avenge the death of brigand Shiv Kumar Dadua in 2007. Thakua ambushed the STF team when it was returning with the body of Dadua’s gang member Dwarika Patel alias Mayyadeen back to Chitrakoot from the encounter site.

PAST POLICE CASUALTIES

Dec 4, 2018: Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was killed by a mob in Bulandshahr in the course of violence over cow slaughter. Singh was shot dead with a revolver of .32 bore.

Jun 2, 2016: Twenty-four people, including additional SP Mukul Dwivedi and an SHO Santosh Kumar were killed in a massive clash between police and encroachers while police was trying to free 280 acres of land at Jawahar Bagh in Mathura. The 22 others were from among the encroachers. Mar 2, 2013: A circle officer (CO) Zia-ul-Haq, incharge of Kunda police circle in Pratapgarh, was shot dead by a mob enraged with the murder of a gram pradhan and his brother in a Pratapgarh village. The CO, along with other cops, had gone to the village after the brothers were shot dead by unidentified assailants.

Jan 5, 2011: A police sub-inspector was killed and three of his colleagues were injured when a group of people turned violent and stormed a police outpost at Jamania town in Ghazipur district. Jun 16, 2009: Two cops, including a platoon commander of PAC, were killed and three others, including an IPS officer VK Gupta, were injured in an exchange of fire between cops and the gang of dreaded dacoit Ghan Shyam Kewat alias Nan in Chitrakoot. Kewat was later gunned down after the gunfight that went for on for three days.

July 23, 2007: The gang of dreaded brigand Ambika Patel alias Thokia killed six commandos of the UP Special Task Force along with a police informer while laying an ambush when they were searching for his gang members in the jungle region of Chitrakoot. The ambush came only hours after the STF achieved a major breakthrough by killing another brigand Shiv Kumar Patel alias Dadua.
