982 cases mark steepest single-day spike in state

LUCKNOW:Uttar Pradesh recorded the steepest one-day hike in Covid-19 cases with 982 fresh cases reported on Friday, taking the state tally to 26,084 since the first case was reported in the state on March 2. The total number of deaths reached 749.

The most number of cases were reported from Gaziabad (140) and Gautam Buddh Nagar (96). Three deaths were reported from Agra, Gaziabad and Kanpur, and one each in Meerut, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Jhansi, Mainpuri and Chandauli.

The first 1000 cases (1,184 exactly) came up on April 20, which was 49 days since the first case was reported.

The second thousand (2,053 exactly) came up on April 28. The third 1000 cases (3,214 exactly) came up on May 8 and fourth thousand came on May 15 (4,057 exactly).

Five thousand cases came up on May 20 and sixth thousand on May 23. The state reached the seventh thousand in the tally on May 28 and 8,000 on May 31.

On June 4 the state crossed the 9,000 mark and on June 6, the total count was above 10,000 cases. On June 9 the state crossed 11,000 mark (11,335 cases) and since then, every 48-hours the fresh case count goes beyond 1,000.

On June 11 the state had 12,088 cases. On June 13 it reached 13,118 and on June 15 it was 14,091 and on June 17, it was 15,181 cases, on June 19 it was 16,602 cases and 17,135 on June 20, 18,438 on June 22, 19,014 on June 23, 20,368 on June 25, 21,1737 on June 26 and 22,343 on June 28, 23,028 on June 29, 24,285 on July 1, 25,102 on July 2, 26,084 cases on July 3.
