DEVENDRA MISHRA, Dy SP

Having risen through the ranks, Mishra was CO, Bilhaur, for the last one year. After retirement he wanted to settle down in his native villagein Banda. His father Mahesh Mishra was a teacher and Devendera joined the police force in his lifetime. His brother RD Mishra said Devendra raised his two brothers like a father after the demise of Mahesh Mishra. Devendra Mishra’s body will be cremated in the village.

MAHESH YADAV, SO, SHIVRAJPUR

Known for his affability, Mahesh was sub-inspector of the 2012 batch. He is survived by his wife Suman and two sons Vivek and Virat. He lived with his family in a government accommodat­ion. His eldest son is preparing for medical exam. His son called Mahesh Yadav around 3 am as he had not come home. Someone else received the call and informed him about the encounter and disconnect­ed the call. He was PRO to previous SSP Anant Deo.

NEBULAL, SUB-INSPECTOR

Eldest among the four siblings, Nebulal joined the police as a constable in 1990 was posted at the Shivrajpur police station. He cleared the department­al exam in 2009. He was posted in Kanpur in 2013 after completing two years of essential training. He is survived by his wife Shyamala and four children—the eldest one Arvind is preparing for medical entrance exam.

ANOOP SINGH, INCHARGE of MANDHANA OUTPOST

A sub-Inspector of the 2015 batch, Anoop Singh was considered a sharp police officer. He first served as in-charge of outpost (ICOP), Tikra, in Bithoor and was then shifted to Mandhana police post in January this year. Born in 1986, he has roots in Pratapgarh.

SULTAN SINGH, CONSTABLE

He lost his parents at an early age in Jhansi. He was raised by his maternal grandfathe­r. His cousin Abhay Kumar said he joined the police in 2008 and he was a devoted father, who wanted his seven-year-old daughter to be a doctor. His body would be taken to his Bhojla village where he would be cremated with full state honours.

BABLOO KUMAR, CONSTABLE

This 22-year-old constable was from Fatehabad in Agra. Two of his brothers are married and the third is in class 12. He has five sisters. He lost his mother and his father Chotelal is physically challenged. On Thursday evening, Babloo had spoken to his brother Dinesh and sounded extremely happy. He was supposed to marry a woman from Rajasthan.

RAHUL KUMAR, CONSTABLE

Originally from Ghaziabad, Rahul was the son of a retired subinspect­or. He has left behind his wife Divya and a one-month old baby girl. He had spoken to his wife on Thursday evening. He completed his training in the 2016 batch and was posted in Kanpur. In January 2020, he was transferre­d from Kalyanpur police station to Bithoor.

JITENDRA, CONSTABLE

A constable of the 2018 batch, Jitendra was the eldest among his four siblings living in Barari refinery police area of Mathura. His younger sibling Jyoti is preparing to join the police. Two younger siblings are still in school. His father Teerathpal works as a labourer and the family was dependent on Jitendra’s income.
