ALARMING SPIKE: UP SEES 1,347 CASES IN 24 HOURS

LUCKNOW:Uttar Pradesh reported its steepest one-day spike of 1,347 fresh coronaviru­s cases on Friday, according to official data.

With this, the statewide tally of Covid-19 cases has gone up to 33,081, since the first coronaviru­s infection in the state was reported in Agra on March 2. As 27 more patients undergoing Covid-19 treatment died, the total number of fatalities increased to 889 in the state in the last 24 hours.

Uttar Pradesh’s previous oneday high of 1,346 cases was reported on July 7.

Among the fresh cases, Lucknow reported the maximum 140 followed by 124 in Ghaziabad. Barabanki and Kanpur reported 69 cases each.

Among the fresh cases, Lucknow reported the maximum 140 followed by 124 in Ghaziabad. Barabanki and Kanpur reported 69 cases each. Seven deaths were reported from Kanpur, two from Gorakhpur, three from Lucknow, two each from Varanasi, Gonda and Jhansi, one each from Meerut, Saharanpur, Azamgarh, Prayagraj, Mathura, Sultanpur, Rae Bareli, Hardoi, Jalaun, Mirzapur and Hathras.

The first coronaviru­s case in the state was reported from Agra on March 2. Forty-nine days later, the state crossed the 1,000case mark with a tally of 1,184 cases on April 20. The second thousand came up on April 28.

The tally went past the 3,000 mark on May 8 and the 4,000mark on May 15. The 5,000 mark was crossed on May 20, 6,000 on May 23, 7,000 on May 28 and 8,000 on May 31.

On June 4, the state went past the 9,000-mark. On June 6, the total count was above 10,000 cases. On June 9, the state crossed the 11,000-mark. On June 11, the state had 12,088 cases. The tally reached 13,118 on June 13. It was 14,091 on June 15, went up to 15,181 on June 17 and then increased to 16,602 on June 19.

The tally rose to 17,135 on June 20 and 18,438 on June 22. It stood at 19,014 on June 23 and 20,368 on June 25. On June 26, the total number of cases increased to 21,130. It touched 22,343 on June 28 and 23,028 on June 29. The tally went up to 24,285 on July 1. The tally touched 25,102 on July 2. The tally stood at 26,856 on July 4 and it went up to 28,011 on July 5.

The state’s coronaviru­s count jumped to 29,290 on July 7 and 30,486 on July 8. It stood at 31,734 on July 9 and reached 33,081 on July 10.
