LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav has suggested that the state government should make it four-day work week for the officers and employees of the state government for their safety, given the rising Covid-19 cases in the state.

“There is no let-up in Covid-19 cases in the state. The government should call the state government officers and employees to work for four days a week for their safety. The government should also consider home quarantine for asymptomatic patients and those with mild symptoms so that the hospitals do not face problems in treating Covid patients and at the same time have beds free for the serious ones,” Akhilesh said in a press statement the party issued on Sunday evening.

Akhilesh also said that these days because of Covid, the serious patients suffering from other diseases were facing a lot of trouble in hospitals. At the Barabanki women’s district hospital, it was found that the Covid OT, Covid ward, and Covid delivery room were damp and several other construction related flaws were also discovered, though the government spent Rs 20 crore on this 100- bed hospital.

“Even at the famous King George’s Medical University, patients are unnecessarily made to wait for hours for treatment and complaints of negligence are common. The health department and the government should be sensitive to the problems that patients are facing, but it seems it has nothing to do with the people’s hardships. The BJP government is inhuman and insensitive,” Akhilesh said.
