1,388 fresh cases in UP, tally 36,480

LUCKNOW: The state’s coronaviru­s tally jumped to 36,480 with 1,388 fresh cases, including 165 in Lucknow, on Sunday, according to official data. The death toll went up to 934 with 21 more Covid-19 patients succumbing to infection, the data said.

Among other districts with a high caseload, Ghaziabad reported 142 fresh cases and Gautam Buddha Nagar 64.

In the last 24 hours, there were three deaths in Kanpur, two each in Prayagraj, Bareilly and Muzaffarna­gar and one each in Agra, Meerut, Lucknow, Moradabad, Basti, Aligarh, Sambhal, Sultanpur, Balrampur, Jhansi, Chandauli and Kushinagar.

Additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said 23,334 of the total infected patients had been discharged so far. The state now had 12,208 active Covid-19 cases, he said.

“Antigen tests are also being conducted. Till now, as many as 11,56,089 tests have been conducted,” Prasad said.

The first case in Uttar Pradesh was reported from Agra on March 2. The state went past the tally of 1,000 cases 49 days later on April 20. The number rose to 2,053 on April 28, 3,214 on May 8 and 4,057 on May 15. The 5,000mark was crossed in the state on May 20 and 6,000 on May 23. The state reached the 7,000-mark on May 28 and 8,000 on May 31.

On June 4, the state crossed the 9,000-mark and on June 6 the total count was above 10,000 cases. On June 9, the state crossed 11000-mark (11,335 cases). On June 11, the state had 12,088 cases.On June 13, it reached 13,118 and on June 15 it was 14,091. On June 17, there were 15,181 cases in UP, 16,602 cases on June 19 and 17,135 cases on June 20. On June 22, the tally reached 18,438 and on June 23 it was 19014. On June 25, the number touched 20, 368 and on June 26 it was 21,737, 22,343 on June 28, 23,028 on June 29, 24,285 on July 1, 25,102 on July 2, 26,856 on July 4, on July 5 the number of cases was 28,011 and on July 7, it was 29,290. The tally on July 8 stood at 30,486. On July 9, it was 31,734. It reached 33,081 on July 10. The number rose to 35,092 on July 11 and it reached 36,480 on July 12.
