PATIENTS MAKE VIDEOS OF POOR FACILITIES

KANPUR: A Covid-19 patient released a video alleging pathetic conditions at a Level 1 quarantine facility and threatened to commit suicide by jumping from the rooftop of the hospital in Bharua Sumerpur in Jhansi. The patient is a lab technician with a government hospital in Jhansi. He complained that the quality of food being served was bad, the bathrooms were not hygienic and water being supplied had insects. He went on the roof of the hospital on Sunday and threatened to commit suicide. Another patient also released a similar video complainin­g the patients were allegedly not getting proper facilities. At present there are 85 Covid patients in the hospital. District magistrate of Jhansi Andra Vamsi said the hospital was being regularly visited by the nodal officers and him but he had received no complaints. “The lab technician instigated people and deliberate­ly released a video to get himself shifted to a Level 3 facility which is Jhansi Medical College,” he said.He, however, has been shifted to the medical college. Jhansi has a major surge in Covid cases post unlock and there are 572 active cases and 34 deaths so far.
