LUCKNOW: Some patients who have undergone Covid treatment in city hospitals have expressed unhappiness with the facilities there.

For instance, a 32-year-old Covid-19 patient, who was admitted to a city hospital, said he got a decent breakfast comprising bun, butter and an egg, but the rest of the meals were just about enough for him.

“We were told the fight against the virus could be won with willpower and good diet, but what we were served was just enough to keep me going,” said the man, who was discharged after he tested negative four days ago.

“I had to wait for hours to get admission. After admission, I could see a doctor after a gap of 12 hours. The doctor examined me and told me about my condition,” said another patient undergoing treatment at another hospital.

“The monitoring of health is done basically by watching us and not by physically putting any equipment on the body. Sometimes, temperature has to be measured by the patients themselves,” said a patient admitted at a Covid medical facility who did not wish to be named.

An elderly patient too found fault with some of the facilities.

“We are vulnerable to other infections too. When we were made to stay with over 20 other patients in one hall, our worst fear was that we would catch some other infection too,” said a 61-year-old woman admitted to another Covid-19 medical facility.

King George’s Medical University spokesperson Dr Sudhir Singh said,” The coronavirus ward is managed as per the protocol decided by the health department on WHO guidelines Patients are given all facilities as per the guidelines and accordingly changes are also made. If air conditioning is not to be started, it can’t be done unless prescribed in the guidelines. Also, patient’s health is monitored as per the protocol.”
