THE CITY SAGA
2011/12: Financial Fair Play (FFP) is implemented by UEFA.
May, 2014: Man City fined by UEFA after failing to comply with FFP regulations. November, 2018: Documents leaked by whistleblowers Football Leaks, and published in German publication Der Spiegel, allege manipulation of contracts by City and sponsors to feign compliance with FFP rules. March-June, 2019: UEFA investigate City and subsequently refer them to its financial control body. City accuse UEFA of targeting the club.
February, 2020: UEFA find City guilty and hand them a two-year ban from European club competitions starting from the 2020/21 season, as well as a €30 million fine. City subsequently appeal the verdict at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). July, 2020: CAS overturns the two-year European ban on City and reduce their fine to just €10 million.
