LUCKNOW: About 20 employees of Lucknow University were advised to go into self quarantine after a university staffer in the dispatch section tested corona positive on Friday. The dispatch office has been shut down temporarily. Confirming this, Lucknow University registrar Vinod Singh said, “A staffer in the dispatch office tested Covid positive on Friday. Some 15-20 University employees who worked in close contact with him were advised to go into isolation.”

The registrar said, “The university was closed on Saturday and Sunday and extensive sanitisation was carried out. We are taking all possible precautionary measures to ensure the safety of employees and teachers.”

In June, a couple of teachers tested positive which created panic among the teaching and non teaching staff and many of them went into self quarantine.

Now the freak incident of the varsity employee testing positive has created fear among many.

Lucknow University spokesman Durgesh Srivastava said there was nothing to fear as university offices were being sanitised on a regular basis.

Earlier, the state government had directed vice chancellors (VCs) of state universities to encourage deans and heads of departments (HoDs) to resume work from varsities from July 13 so that they could prepare e-ontent for students for the next academic session.

The remaining teachers are expected to follow the work from home protocol as a safeguard against coronavirus.
