Temple panel chief takes stock of preconstru­ction activity

LUCKNOW : Ram temple constructi­on committee chairman Nripendra Misra, who is also considered the PMO’s emissary for Ayodhya, was in the temple town for three days to discuss all essential matters related to constructi­on of the temple and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden visit to Ayodhya for the bhumi pujan.

Misra reached Ayodhya late on July 15 evening. He left on Sunday morning after paying obeisance at the Hanuman Garhi temple. Prior to the all-important meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoom­i Teertha Kshetra Trust on Saturday, Misra met all stakeholde­rs in the constructi­on of the temple. He also discussed tentative dates for PM Modi’s Ayodhya visit for the bhumi pujan. He examined pre-constructi­on activity on the Ram Janmabhoom­i campus and discussed with engineers all modalities related to constructi­on of temple and testing of soil. Before giving his approval to some changes in the existing model for the Ram temple, Misra discussed the issue with Champat Rai, general secretary of the trust, and also enquired about the opinion of saints on the issue. A day prior to the meeting of the trust, Misra convened an informal meeting of all its members to discuss changes in the existing model.

“During his stay in Ayodhya, Nripendra Misra examined preconstru­ction activity carried out at the Ram Janmabhoom­i till date. He also discussed all important aspects related with constructi­on of Ram temple and PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Ayodhya for bhumi pujan of the Ram temple,” said Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, the designated successor to Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, chairman of the Trust.

Engineers of Larsen and Toubro, the company carrying out constructi­on of Ram temple, and Nikhil Sompura, son of chief architect Chandrakan­t Sompura, were also present in Ayodhya. Misra discussed the issue of soil testing with the engineers. Larsen and Toubro is carrying out soil testing from 60 metres below the ground (at Ram Janmabhoom­i). It will carry out constructi­on of the Ram temple without charging any fee.
