With monsoon aiding the spread of bacteria, and the coronavirus wreaking havoc, it becomes important to work on your immunity. Here are a few tips to ensure that you’re all geared to face the rainy season amid Covid-19:

■ Homemade kadha: Chef Anahita Dhondy suggests consuming kadha twice a day. “It contains turmeric, tulsi, cloves, ginger, black peppercorns, cinnamon, black cardamom and honey or jaggery. They help boost immunity and are also antiinflammatory,” she says in a video. Keep allergies at bay:

■ “Warm oil massages with sesame or Mahanarayan oil before bath help avoid allergies. Stay hydrated by sipping boiled water with dried ginger. Nasal drops of mustard oil are also proven to counter infections,” says Ayurveda consultant Dr Tarun Gupta. Binge on citrus fruits:

■ “Apples, orange, berries, pomegranates and amla — add any or all to your diet for more energy and vitamins,” adds Dr Gupta.

■ Cough lozenges: Some of the easiest recipes use lime juice, powdered cloves, ginger and amla. Boil these and add honey or sugar after turning off the burner. Then pour drops of the liquid in a pan so as to make tablets.

■ A cuppa a day: “Simply add a spoonful of turmeric to your tea. Infusions made with tulsi, black pepper, ginger and amla are also great immunity boosters,” suggests Tanuja Sodhi, a wellness expert.

■ Ghar ki khichdi: “Prefer fresh, home-cooked food. Consuming barley, rice and moong dal, and having a small piece of ginger with rock salt before every meal helps boost immunity,” says Akanksha Mishra, a nutritionist.
