₹52 cr collected from violators of Covid curbs, driving norms

LUCKNOW: The state government has so far realised ₹52 crore as penalty from those found without face covers in public as well as from those violating guidelines for driving vehicles during Covid-19 pandemic.

“During checking of vehicles, people not following mandatory guidelines and not wearing face covers are being fined. So far, we have realised Rs 52 crore as penalty from violators,” said additional chief secretary, rural developmen­t and panchayati raj, Manoj Kumar Singh.

As part of guidelines to check spread of Sars-CoV-2 infection, it has been decided that only three people apart from driver would be allowed to travel in a four wheeler. Tripling in two wheelers is already banned and punishable under the motor vehicles act but at present tripling would invite a heavier than usual fine, officials said.

ENFORCEMEN­T WORK ON IN HOT SPOTS

Enforcemen­t work was on in nearly 6100 Covid hotspots across the state, officials said. “Nearly 64 lakh people are living in about 11 lakh houses located in these hotspot areas where door-to-door screening of all people is on,” officials said.

REDUCE STAY IN HOLDING AREAS OF HOSPS;

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered that the wait in holding areas of hospitals for patients should be reduced, officials said.

“The CM wants effective steps be taken to reduce delay of patients in holding areas,” officials said. “He has further instructed all chief medical officers and principals of medical colleges to reduce formalitie­s for admission and other care substantia­lly so that things can be expedited,” they added.

There are 22,452 Covid patients in the state at present.

In past 24 hours, 2,984 new cases were reported. So far, 1,387 corona positive patients have died though on the brighter side 39,903 Covid-19 patients have been discharged after they recovered from the infection, officials said.

A mobile Covid testing van for sampling of suspected people is also being sent to all major hospitals to speed up testing.
