LUCKNOW : Drawing chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s attention towards the prevailing corona situation, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said Covid-19 cases were increasing in most cities, towns and even villages of Uttar Pradesh now.

Priyanka has sent yet another letter to the chief minister targeting his government for ‘low testing’ and said, “It seems your government has adopted the policy of low testing apparently believing in the mantra of ‘No Test’ meant ‘No Corona’.”

She said the fight against Covid-19 would remain incomplete and may worsen if testing was not increased.

She also said people were not coming forward for tests as they were scared of the ‘poor’ condition of quarantine centres and hospitals in the state.

Priyanka further said the state government had claimed of having 1.5 lakh beds for Covid-19 patients but only 20,000 active corona cases had led to a chaotic situation on the front.

Why the UP government was not building temporary hospitals like Delhi and Mumbai if there was a large crowd outside hospitals, she asked.

She questioned the state government for not setting up temporary hospitals in Varanasi, Lucknow and Agra. She said army and paramilitary forces and DRDO could run temporary hospitals. The Congress leader said the central facilities in Delhi could also be used by the people of the bordering districts.

She said home isolation was a good move but the same should not be implemented in a haphazard manner.

Priyanka said for this a conscious decision must be taken about arrangements to monitor patients, cost of medical services during home quarantine, arrangements to check the level of temperature and oxygen of patients and who should be informed if the condition of a patient deteriorated there.

She said the state government should initiate some effective measures that could assure people that the government was active to save their lives and they won’t be left to the mercy of God.

She said the Congress suggestions should not be treated with a political point of view as was obvious with the state government’s response to the Congress efforts to make buses available for the migrant labourers.

Priyanka said the health of the people of Uttar Pradesh and the protection of their life was her biggest concern and the Congress stood with the people of UP in their fight against Covid-19.
