CM surveys flood-hit areas, orders relief measures

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday made an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Gorakhpur and Sant Kabir Nagar districts.

He said the district administra­tions had been directed to launch relief and rescue operation in flood-hit areas, to arrange boats in all villages, distribute ration among people depute medical teams at the local level and supply fodder for the cattle.

The Irrigation Department engineers have been directed to ensure that rivers do not breach the embankment­s, he said.

To note, increase in water level of Rapti, Rohin, Kuwano and Saryu rivers has inundated over hundred villages and submerged tracts of agricultur­al land in Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajgan­j and Siddharth Nagar districts. After surveying the floodaffec­ted areas Yogi said the administra­tion was on the alert. Along with the Covid pandemic the state government would also fight natural calamities.

The CM would also review the flood situation in Deoria, Ballia, Varanasi and adjoining districts. The work plan prepared by the district administra­tion to fight Covid pandemic would also be reviewed in the meeting with the officers, he said.

Earlier in the morning, Yogi inspected the medical facilities in Gorakhpur All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Lalit Narain Mishra Railway Hospital. He told the AIIMS director to set up a Covid hospital in the new block being constructe­d on the premises. The constructi­on agency is likely to complete the constructi­on work by July 30. Within 15 days, a 50-bed designated Covid hospital with level one facility will be establishe­d for the admission of the asymptomat­ic patients. In the second phase, level two hospital would be set up for admission of patients having corona symptoms, he said. The officers were also directed to set up facilities for Covid patients in the Railway Hospital.

On Saturday, the CM reviewed the Covid-19 situation in Gorakhpur and Basti divisions. He said nodal officers should be

appointed in every ward and village panchayat. He said surveillan­ce committees should be activated and surveillan­ce work should be done in a better manner. He enquired about the measures

for protection against Covid-19, number of beds, door to door survey, Covid help desk, contact tracing, distributi­on of food grains and status about creation of jobs.
