LUCKNOW : Minister for micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) Sidharth Nath Singh on Wednesday said the state government would soon bring a new export policy for Uttar Pradesh.

Singh was presiding over a meeting convened to formulate an action plan to make the state a global supply chain. He asked officers present at the meeting to submit the action plan in two weeks.

Singh said the new export policy would be formulated with an aim to make the state a global supply chain. The policy would be both short term and long term, he added.

The new policy would give boost to export of textiles, garments, footwear, machine parts, carpets, handlooms and handicraft products, Singh said.

Singh said China had captured about 80 percent global ceramic product market with an export of 10 million US dollar.

He said the state has also included ceramic products in the ‘one district one product’ scheme and had set up a ‘Mati kala board’

for the purpose. He also spoke about China’s share in export of textiles and electronic products.

Singh said China’s exports in textiles sector were about 9 million US dollars. He said China also had 57 percent share in in footwear exports.

He said Uttar Pradesh was also manufacturing products that China was exporting and efforts were on to make UP’s products competitive in the world market. He said besides making efforts for improving quality, emphasis was being laid on attractive packaging and branding of products.

Singh said on chief minister’s directives he had held virtual meetings with ambassadors of various countries and these meetings would soon show results.
