262 fresh cases in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: The city reported 262 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, according to official data.

Wednesday’s figure is slightly higher than the 247 cases reported on Tuesday but lower than the 312 recorded on Monday.

Besides, a 62-year-old man from Nayagaon in Lucknow died during treatment at the corona ward of King George’s Medical University (KGMU).

“He was admitted on July 28 morning and died at night. He had high blood pressure and diabetes. He died due to cardio-pulmonary arrest,” said KGMU spokespers­on Dr Sudhir Singh.

Among the fresh corona cases, 19 were reported from Indira Nagar, 17 from Gomti Nagar, 16 from Hazratganj and 14 each from Hasanganj and Sarojinina­gar.

The number of cases in some other localities were: Cantt (11),

Alambagh (10), Mahanagar (10), LDA Colony (9), Chinhat (9), Naka (9), Madiaon (9), Krishnanag­ar (9), Chowk (9), Vikas Nagar (8) and Qaiserbagh (7).

There were five new cases each in Jankipuram, Talkatora, Bazar Khala, Thakurganj and Ashiana. Three new cases each were reported from Sushant Golf City, Rae Bareilly Road, Mal and Aminabad. Lucknow has reported over 7,000 cases till now of which 3,100 have been discharged. The state capital has 3,941 active cases. Till now, 88 deaths have been reported here, according to health department data.

An expert has advised caution in view of the rain. “During the monsoon, droplet infection spreads more as compared to other seasons,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Doctors.
