56 shelter home kids among 475 new cases in Lucknow

LUCKNOW : The state capital reported 475 fresh cases, including kids from the children’s home who were admitted to the Northern Railways hospital. District probation officer, Lucknow Sudhakar Sharan Pandey said, “In all 56 children at the government observatio­n home on Mohan Road tested positive last night and were admitted to the Northern Railways hospital. They were all asymptomat­ic.”

A patient admitted to the holding area of the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences also tested positive, after which admissions were suspended for about 30 minutes for sanitisati­on. The patient who came on Tuesday tested positive during the day and was shifted to Covid-19 facility on Shaheed Path.

District probation officer, Lucknow Sudhakar Sharan Pandey said, “In all 56 children at the government observatio­n home on Mohan Road tested positive last night and were admitted to the Northern Railways hospital. They were all asymptomat­ic.”

Ten days ago, six children in the shelter home had tested positive after which screening of all inmates was done. “Now we shall conducted tests frequently to keep a watch,” said Pandey.

Lucknow’s Covid-19 count has reached 14,969 of which 7,633 have been discharged till now while 6,895 active cases are under treatment, which is the highest in the state among all other districts. Cases were reported from Talkatora 19, Thakurganj 25, Sarojinina­gar 15, Naka 7, Rae Bareli Road 12, Cantt 16, Chowk 14, Alambagh 21, Gomti Nagar 20, Gomti Nagar Vistar 4, Indira Nagar 23, Aliganj 8, Madiyaon 7, Mahanagar 17, Kaiserbagh 3, Hasanganj 7, Hazratganj 29, Vikas Nagar 8, Sadatganj 9, Krishnanag­ar 7, Chinhut 6, Sushant Golf City 6, Gudamba 5, Jankipuram 5, Para 12 and Ashiyana 5.

ACS home Awanish Awasthy inspected the facilities for the Covid-19 patients at the Era Medical College. Principal MMA Faridi said that the ACS saw patient care with the help of cameras, inspected the data of patients and other facilities. “We have been asked to increase beds and we shall do it soon,” he said.

TWO DEATHS

A 62-year-old man from Lucknow died in the corona ward at the King George’s Medical University on Tuesday night. He was admitted on July 24.

“The patient had high blood pressure and diabetes as well as kidney disease. He died of septicemia and uremic encephalop­athy,” said Dr Sudhir Singh, spokespers­on, KGMU.

Another 65-year-old man from Pratapgarh died on Wednesday. He was admitted in the wee hours and had high blood pressure, coronary artery disease and kidney disease. “He died of septicemic encephalop­athy and cardio-respirator­y arrest,” said Dr Singh.

MINISTER, CMO DENY RUMOUR

A rumour about medical education minister Suresh Khanna being admitted to SGPGI after testing positive for Covid-19 spread during the day. The minister later clarified in a tweet that he was 100% fine and was working as usual. Lucknow’s chief medical officer Dr RP Singh said, “This news about the minister is false.”
