‘Of every 100 persons undergoing testing, only 4.8 turning +ve’

LUCKNOW: Despite the spike in coronaviru­s infection, the case positivity rate (CPR) in Uttar Pradesh remained 4.8% in the period from August 1 to 11, said officials on Wednesday.

The CPR is determined by the number of persons turning positive among those undergoing tests, said additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad while giving the data related to testing.

Among the 75 districts, the CPR is highest in Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Deoria and Maharajgan­j whereas the positivity rate is lowest in Hathras, Baghpat, Mahoba, Kasganj and Bulandshah­r, he said.

A health department officer said with ramped up testing the case positivity rate had increased from 3.6% in mid-June to 4.8% in August.

Till Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh had tested 34, 12, 346 samples of which 1, 36, 165 people had tested positive.

The state has increased the daily sample testing tally to 1 lakh on Tuesday when 97,911 samples were tested.

Out of the 1,36,165 positive cases, 84,661 have recovered.

The active corona cases in the state is 49,347 out of which 21,758 patients are in home isolation, 1,627 are in private hospitals and 196 are in hotel isolation that have been converted into level one facility.

The remaining 25,766 patients are admitted in the level one, two and three facilities of the state government.

Till Wednesday, 39,678 patients were sent to home isolation while 17,920 staying in home isolation have recovered, he said.

On the basis of the alert generated by the Arogya Setu App, the health department control room has contacted 8.42 lakh people who have come in contact with the positive case.

The 61, 831 Covid help desk set up by the state government has identified 6.43 lakh people with Covid symptoms and their samples had been sent to the laboratory for test, he said.
