CM sets August 30 deadline for 300-bed hosp at BRD Med College

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the officers to establish a 300-bed Covid hospital in the newly constructe­d Child Health Care Institute located in the BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, by August 30.

The chief minister, who is on a two-day visit to Gorakhpur, participat­ed in the Janamastha­mi programme organised in Gorakhnath temple on the intervenin­g nights of August 11 and 12.

On Wednesday morning, he inspected the health facilities in the BRD Medical College.

Yogi said the patients from the adjoining districts as well as Bihar and Nepal visit Gorakhpur for treatment and the state government was committed towards strengthen­ing the health services in the district.

In view of the Covid pandemic, the state government has decided to set up 300-bed designated Covid hospital in the Child Health care Institute located in the Medical college campus. Another 100 beds Covid hospital is being establishe­d in the TB hospital. The Medical education department has been directed to install ventilator­s and other equipment. The health department will impart training to the doctors and paramedica­l staff, he said.

The state government has made 1.50 lakh beds available for the Covid patients in its level one, two and three facilities. The asymptomat­ic patients have been given home isolation option. The state government has deployed 70,000 teams for the door-to-door survey. The laboratori­es in the state are testing around 1 lakh sample daily. With the increase in the test, the number of the positive cases is also increasing, Yogi said. Later, in the review meeting with the district administra­tion officers, Yogi directed them to set up level two and three facilities for the patients in Maharajgan­j, Kushinagar, Deoria and other districts.

He directed the officers to complete the constructi­on of the Gorakhpur-Varanasi highway on priority basis.
