14 more deaths, 621 new cases in Lko
As many as 8,103 patients discharged from hosps, 7,039 active cases under treatment
LUCKNOW: The state capital’s Covid-19 tally reached 15,324 on Thursday with 621 fresh cases, including staff at the GPO, while 14 people succumbed to the infection in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 182, said officials.
So far, 8,103 patients had been discharged from hospitals and 7,039 active cases were under treatment. Both these figures were the highest among all other districts in UP.
Areas that reported cases during the day were Gomti Nagar 29, Thakurganj nine, Jankipuram nine, Chinhat nine, Sarojini Nagar 13, Mahanagar 14, Krishnanagar 11, Indira Nagar 35, Vikas Nagar five, Gudamba three, Alambagh 19, Qaiserbagh five, Talkatora 12, Hazratganj 18, Bazarkhala 11, Chowk 14, Cantt 13, Madiaon 18, Ashiana 10, Aminabad five, Aliganj 16, Hussainganj 10, Saadatganj 14, Gosainganj 11, Para 11 and Sushant Golf City 12.
Among the deceased was a 75-year-old man from Narsinghpur. He died in the wee hours, after he was admitted to the King George’s Medical University (KGMU). “The patient suffered acute respiratory distress syndrome and died due to respiratory failure,” said Dr Sudhir Singh, spokesperson, KGMU.
A 71-year-old man from Sitapur, who was admitted to the corona ward at the KGMU on August 10, died on August 12. “He died due to respiratory failure,” he said.
A 50-year-old woman from Basti also died on August 12. She was admitted on August 8. “The patient had suffered snakebite. She died due to respiratory failure,” said Dr Singh.
A 65-year-old man from Bishanpur, who was admitted to the KGMU on July 27, died on August 12. “He had diabetes, high blood pressure and brain damage had occurred. He died due to cardiopulmonary arrest,” he added.
A 71-year-old man from Shahjahanpur, who was admitted to hospital on August 12, died on August 12. “He had kidney disease and high blood pressure,” said Dr Singh.
“Patients with co-morbidity
are finding it hard to fight Covid-19. Despite best medical care and life support system, the death rate among those having co-morbidity is high,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary-general, Association of International Doctors.
Another 48-year-old woman from Faizabad Road, who was admitted to a private medical facility for Covid-19, died during the day. A 63-year-old man from
Alambagh also died during treatment, said officials.
MEDICAL STAFF TEST POSITIVE
Three doctors, a staff nurse, an ambulance driver and a lab attendant tested Covid positive at the Civil Hospital. Besides, six contractual staff in the holding area at KGMU also tested positive during the day.
