VARANASI:A day after he released a video alleging that the UP police could eliminate him in an encounter because of his Brahmin identity, Nishad Party MLA Vijay Mishra was arrested from Madhya Pradesh’s Agar district on Friday.

“Mishra, the four-time MLA from Bhadohi’s Gyanpur constituency has been arrested in a case related to alleged grabbing of property and threatening a family to death. They were booked under Sections 323 (voluntary causing hurt), 347 (wrongful confinement), 387 (putting person in fear of death of grievous hurt), 449 (house trespass) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC,” confirmed Rambadan Singh, superintendent of police, Bhadohi.

“The MLA had been arrested by Agar SP on our request. The case was registered by Krishna Mohan Tiwari,” the Bhadohi SP said while adding, “A team has been sent to Madhya Pradesh to bring the MLA back to Bhadohi. The MLA’s wife Ramlali and his son Vishnu, who are also named in the case, will be arrested soon.”

On August 8, Krishna Mohan Tiwari had lodged a case against the MLA, his wife Mirzapur-Sonbhadra MLC Ramlali Mishra and their son Vishnu Mishra alleging that they had threatened him and had grabbed his contract firm forcibly.

On Thursday, Mishra released a video alleging that the police was harassing him and his family since he is a Brahmin and four

time MLA. He said the police could eliminate him in an encounter.

The police, however, had rejected his allegations.

In the video, the MLA claimed, “My wife and son have been framed in a fake case. Since I am a Brahmin and a four-time MLA from Gyanpur, I am being harassed. All this is being done to ensure that a mafia from Chandauli or Banaras or a son from Ballia could contest election from Bhadohi. I may be murdered.”

In a video statement, the SP said, “The allegations are false and a gimmick to divert attention from his criminal acts and to create confusion in the minds of public. As many as 73 cases are registered against him. The allegations leveled by him are false and baseless.”

The SP further added that despite cases against the MLA he had been allotted a gunner for his security.

WIFE GOES MISSING FROM PRAYAGRAJ HOME

VARANASI: Ramlali Mishra, wife of Nishad Party MLA Vijay Mishra, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances from George Town area of Allahabad, police said hours after the arrest of the MLA. Police said her gunner gave the information.

Elected as an MLC from Mirzapur-Sonbhadra seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket, she was expelled from the party in February,

2017 for supporting her husband Vijay Mishra in the assembly election. Mishra who was with the SP earlier had contested the election from Gyanpur assembly seats on Nishad Party ticket after he was denied the SP ticket. On August 8, one Krishna Mohan Tiwari of Bhadohi has registered a case against Mishra, his wife and son alleging that they had threatened him and grabbed his contract firm.

A senior police officer said the MLC’s gunner Inshwar Chand informed on late Thursday evening that MLC Ramlali Mishra went missing. The cop informed Mirzapur SP Dr Dharmvir Singh about the matter and asked the gunner to lodge a complaint at George Town police station.

When contacted SP Bhadohi Rambadan said she had been hiding at an unknown location to avoid the arrest. “We will arrest her soon,” said the SP.

Meanwhile, a Bhadohi court rejected the interim bail application of his wife Ramlali Mishra, a member of the UP Legislative Council from the Samajwadi Party. Rejecting the bail plea, Additional District Judge P N

Srivastava asked her to approach the MP/MLA court in this regard. Mishra’s daughter Rima Mishra had moved the interim bail application for her mother and brother Vishnu Mishra. According to government counsel Dinesh Pandey, the court however, stayed the arrest of Vishnu Mishra till the completion of the hearing on his interim bail. The next date of hearing in this connection has been fixed for August 20.
