2 disciples of Nritya Gopal Das also test positive

AGRA :Two disciples of Shri Ram Janmabhoom­i Teerth Kshetra Trust chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, also tested corona positive in Gurugram and were hospitaliz­ed on Friday.

The health department is now preparing the list of those who had come in contact with the Mahant during his three-day visit to Mathura where he stayed at an ashram and attended Janmashtam­i celebratio­n at Sri Krishna Janmabhoom­i.

“These two disciples Janaki Das and Narain Das accompanie­d Mahant Nritya Gopal Das (84) who was referred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after he

tested positive for Covid -19 in Mathura on Thursday,” said Dr Bhudev Singh, deputy chief medical officer, Mathura.

“These two disciples were tested in a hospital in Gurugram and were found to be positive. They too have been hospitaliz­ed in the same hospital in Gurugram,” he said.

To note, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das was in Mathura for three days to attend Janmashtam­i celebratio­n at Sri Krishna Janambhoom­i. He reached Mathura on Tuesday but complained of fever, sore throat and trouble in breathing on Thursday morning.

“Antigen and TrueNat tests were conducted on Thursday morning and the Mahant was found corona positive. So he was referred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The two disciples who accompanie­d the Mahant tested positive in Gurugram on Friday,” said the deputy CMO.

“In Mathura, we have begun contact tracing both at the ashram and Sri Krishna Janmabhoom­i to find who came in contact with the Mahant. About 40 to 50 people are being advised to go into quarantine. Tests would be conducted soon after the contacts are fully traced,” he said.

To recall, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das had shared the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel and Rashtriya Swayamseva­k Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat at the groundbrea­king ceremony for the Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5.
